Sports Circle Indy Announces 2017 Board of Directors
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, April 4, 2017. Sports Circle Indy, a non-profit networking organization connecting sports businesses in the Indianapolis area, has announced its 2017 board of directors.
Amie Peele Carter, a partner at Faegre Baker Daniels LLP, will serve as president of the organization, while Norm Wain, general counsel and vice president of business affairs at USA Track & Field, will serve as vice president.
Other officers include Jen Phelps, general counsel at USA Football, as recording secretary, and Ronda Hite, vice president of strategy and planning at CHARGE, as treasurer.
Joining them on the Sports Circle Indy board are:
“Sports Circle Indy would like to thank its past president and founder Ken Ungar and the entire team at local sports marketing agency CHARGE for their endless support of Sports Circle Indy since its creation,” Carter said.
Sports Circle Indy recently held a networking event on Thursday, March 30, p.m. at CharBlue. The event provided them with the opportunity to thank outgoing president, Ken Ungar, and to connect with new and existing members of the organization.
Other events planned for 2017 include a tour of Grand Park, an Indiana Fever game, lunch with a speaker panel on sports-related charitable giving, an event at Indiana Grand, outreach events for law students interested in sports law, and a holiday party.

Changing the Conversation on Women’s Leadership in Sports

Sports Circle Indy and Sports Lawyers Association hosted a lunch conversation with four of Indianapolis’ most accomplished female sports executives. They touched on topics such as their career paths, the importance of diversity in the industry, and opportunities for the next generation of women leaders. Speakers included Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Executive Vice Chair and Co-Owner of the Indianapolis Colts, Renee Chube Washington, Chief Operating Officer of USA Track & Field, Inc., Anucha Browne, Vice President of Women’s Basketball Championships for the NCAA, and Naima Stevenson Starks, Deputy General Counsel for the NCAA.

A Night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse

At this event, members and guests got a behind the scenes look at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and attended the Indiana Pacers last regular season home game as they faced the New York Knicks. Members and guests were taken on a tour of Bankers Life Fieldhouse where they had a chance to see; executive offices, conference rooms, suites, media, practice court, and everything in-between.
The 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Panel Discussion

Every year in May there is one special event that takes place here in the heart of our city Indianapolis, The Indianapolis 500. As an historic year for this event, we brought an engaging panel to discuss: the significance of the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 as a historic milestone, the opportunity for economic and civic impact for our city, an update on the wide variety of celebrations that are being planned, and questions from the audience on how to get involved and show community pride.
The panel was led by Allison Melangton, Senior Vice President of Events for Hulman Motorsports and panelists included Kristi Gaynor, Chair of Residential Engagement for the 100th Running Host Committee, and Lauren George, 100th Running Host Committee Coordinator.
